Subsidised job listings for older workers

One way to overcome age discrimination is to mandate a job section in the classified ads.

ALTHOUGH the Government wants mature workers to be employed, age discrimination is still prevalent.

One way to overcome the problem is to mandate a job section in the classified ads of local media, titled 'Job vacancies for mature workers'.

The Government can also sponsor the advertisements to encourage more pro-mature and enlightened employers to recruit more elderly citizens via this avenue.

Companies that do not mind hiring mature employees can be expected to be more forthcoming in advertising in this column.

Genuine mature job seekers can then zero in on this column to seek jobs more confidently, knowing fully well that they would not be sidelined.
