SINGAPORE - Singapore's May factory output fell 1.6 per cent month-on-month on a seasonally adjusted basis, as a fall in electronics manufacturing offset a jump in biomedical production, government data showed on Friday.

The Singapore Economic Development Board revised up April seasonally adjusted output to a 25.9 per cent rise month-on-month.

Manufacturing rose 2.0 per cent in May from a year earlier, the second month of gains, thanks to the jump in drug production. The government also revised up the year-on-year April data to an increase of 0.4 per cent from a fall of 0.5 per cent.

The government provided a year-on-year breakdown by sector, but not for the seasonally adjusted figures.

Singapore exports the bulk of its manufactured products and the manufacturing sector accounts for about one quarter of the economy.
