To better cater to the needs of the PMETs, who form about 23% of Singaporeans retrenched, North East CDC and WDA have tailored a Career Information Kit specifically for the PMETs.
The kit provides job seekers with useful information on job search tools and strategies and WDA programmes at a glance. The kit will be available at all five CDCs by May 8, 2009.
North East CDC has seen a five-fold rise in the number of PMETs seeking for employment assistance since November 2008 when only 40 had registered with the CDC.
Now North East CDC sees 200 per month on the average. It has since started programmes like North East Coffee Connect which provides a platform for PMETs to "sell" their talents to employers.
North East CDC had also launched the North East Headhunting Programme in December 2008. The programme provides PMETs jobseekers registered with the CDC, job opportunities offered by executive search firms through face-to-face interviews. To date, 100 PMETs have attended two sessions.
