THE Singapore Exchange (SGX) will launch a new product in January as part of efforts to expand the suite of equity products available to investors.

The product, known as an extended settlement contract, effectively allows investors to bet on price movements in underlying stock prices for up to 38 days.

Investors may buy into an underlying stock listed on the SGX at the transacted price on the day of the trade by paying a fraction of the full trade value upfront. The remaining amount will then be settled at a future specified date.
