Millennium Sukhumvit Bangkok to open in October

Latest five-star addition in Thailand points to Millennium & Copthorne Hotels' expansion of the Millennium brand in the Asia-Pacific.

The five-star Millennium Sukhumvit Bangkok Hotel will open in Thailand this October.

London-listed M&C Hotels plc is a 53-percent subsidiary of CDL and part of the Hong Leong Group Singapore. It operates in 17 countries around the world,
managing a portfolio of over 110 three-, four- and five-star hotels.

The latest addition to the Millennium stable of hotels is part of Millennium & Copthorne (M&C) Hotels plc's expansion of the brand in the Asia-Pacific region.

M&C Hotels is the subsidiary of City Developments Ltd (CDL), listed on the Singapore Exchange.

"The presence of Millennium Sukhumvit Bangkok in a key destination like Thailand will reinforce the Millennium brand as a provider of elegant and luxury accommodation," said Mr Kwek Leng Beng, executive chairman of the Hong Leong Group Singapore and chairman of M&C Hotels.

Located in Sukhumvit, one of Bangkok city's prime central areas, the hotel is within easy reach of the business district and entertainment spots.

It is also adjacent to the subway and skytrain stations near the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre and is a 30-minute drive from Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

Its 325 rooms and suites are designed for business and leisure travellers.

The Millennium Sukhumvit Bangkok is managed by M&C Hotels and owned by Thailand-based Fena Estate Company Limited as a joint venture. The joint-venture is between Srichawla Family (FICO Group) and City Hotels Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of M&C Hotels. Each company owns a 50-percent interest.
