MOBILEONE (M1) customers will be able to bid on eBay, the world's leading online auction market, on their mobile phones from today.
The tie-up with eBay lets M1 customers browse and bid for items on the local and international eBay sites on their mobile phones, M1 said yesterday.
'Most importantly, having eBay on the go means customers will be able to monitor their bids and make informed decisions based on real-time updates,' it said.
M1 is the first telco operator to link up with eBay in Singapore for mobile subscribers.
'Mobile technology has revolutionised Internet services, allowing us to offer popular Web services on mobile phones,' said M1's director of consumer marketing Sharon Tan.
'We are excited to offer M1 users access to the global eBay marketplace where they can buy from the world.
'This latest addition to our mobile services opens up a new world of trading opportunities for the many fans of eBay that is unfettered by time, place or the lack of a computer screen.'
Sam McDonagh, director, eBay Southeast Asia, said: 'eBay Mobile allows users with busy and mobile lifestyles to continue shopping on the eBay global online marketplace any time, anywhere, even when they are on the go.'
M1 customers can access the service by clicking on the eBay Mobile icon on MiWorld Mobile. While all customers will be able to browse and view the pages, they must be registered eBay members before they can trade via eBay Mobile. There will be no bidding charges, but the standard data traffic charge of 1.07 cents/kb will apply.

Separately, StarHub gave further details yesterday of the repackaged Sports Group channels aimed at football fans.
Starting Aug 11, subscribers to the Sports Group will have seven football channels, up from the current four.
The repackaging comes before the new higher monthly charges of $25 kick in on Oct1, 2007. The current monthly fee is $15.
The three additional channels are Goal TV1 and Goal TV2, which were previously available under a separate package, and Football Channel, a dedicated Premier League channel that shows English matches.
The upsizing means football fans will be able to watch up to 10 Premier League matches a week and a total of 370 'live' and delayed Premier League games for the August 2007 to May 2008 season.
