SOFTWARE application development activities account for a major portion of IT investments, and are at the core of how IT will deliver solutions to satisfy business requirements. Yet, many companies fail to properly manage these projects throughout its entire application lifecycle (ALM).
Companies should take on an even more holistic view to ALM. Given the limited resources companies have and the overwhelming number of IT project requests, a company's IT portfolio should be viewed just like a financial portfolio - in maximising the mix of IT projects to achieve the business's goals and targets.
By integrating project portfolio management and ALM, it gives key stakeholders complete visibility of project status at any one time and critical project metrics to enable decision-making on the prioritisation or re-prioritisation of projects throughout the application lifecycle. This ensures overall project success across the entire enterprise.

THE staff member in charge of IT in our office is of the view that e-mail transmission at present goes through a host platform or perhaps a number of host platforms before it is routed to the recipients. Depending on the volume of traffic, long congestion sometimes builds up at these host platforms where the transmission is dispatched as and when the congestion is reduced.
If these host platform stations can be made to speed up the process or more of them can be created, then more satisfactory systems would result.
