Financial incentives to train employees

By Jeanette Lee

I WOULD like to tap the Training Assistance Scheme when sending my employees for training. What kind of support does this scheme offer?

The Training Assistance Scheme by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency offers financial incentives to encourage companies to train their employees in areas which can directly benefit their businesses.

All companies registered or incorporated in Singapore are eligible. Training must be fully sponsored by the company. Workers who are Singaporeans and permanent residents qualify for the scheme.

The approved course for funding must be relevant to the sponsored employee's current job and in line with the business needs of the company.

To apply, call 6883-5885 or apply online via SDF EasyNet ( www.sdf.gov.sg ) or through hardcopy application. Forms can be downloaded from the website. For more details, refer to the Training Assistance Scheme on www.wda.gov.sg
