Confectionery maker seeks to break into overseas food scene

MY COMPANY makes chocolates. We want to expand regionally but are unsure about food regulations in different countries regarding certification or nutrition labelling, for instance. Where can I go to for help?

The Export Technical Assistance Centre (Etac), managed by Spring Singapore, helps domestic exporters understand the standards requirements, as well as issues related to conformance, in different countries.

It provides exporters with information, assistance and referrals on technical requirements and related issues.

Etac also monitors developments in international standards and market-specific technical regulations, and updates exporters through outreach programmes and industry seminars.

To find out more, you can call Etac at 6279-3807 or e-mail etac@spring.gov.sg

Starting a food and beverage chain

I am planning to start a chain of food and beverage outlets. Where can I get information on market potential and industry trends?

You can consider the newly-launched EnterpriseOne Business Information Services (Ebis).

It offers domestic companies, specially small and medium-sized enterprises, access to more than 50 online business databases.

You can access industry-specific reports on the following:

  • Technology, media and advertising;
  • Life sciences;
  • Heavy industry;
  • Food and beverage;
  • Services;
  • Consumer goods; and,
  • The public sector.

Consultants can help you locate the information you need.

Industry workshops are also run to help you understand global shifts and emerging trends, with a focus on China, India and the Middle East.
