Growing Mice

THE meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (Mice) industry is experiencing a global growth, and many nations are now venturing into this area.

Singex, which manages Singapore Expo, and is also an event organiser, is making its presence felt internationally. It formed Singex Global to build up the Mice industry in Qatar, an emirate in the Middle East, where the 15th Asian Games 2007 were held.

Singex Global and the Qatar Foundation have set up the Qatar Mice Development Institute (QMDI) to develop infrastructure and transform Qatar into a regional and international Mice destination of choice.

The QMDI has already completed events like Caracalla and will run DIMDEX (Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference) in Doha, Qatar's capital, from March 17 to 19 next year.

This is a sister event of IMDEX (International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference), which has been held in Singapore for a number of years at Singapore Expo.

Singex's role at QMDI The Singex Global team is based in Qatar to help organise events and to train local staff.

Team members also manage events and are tasked with launching a series of training seminars and workshops for Mice professionals based in Doha and the region.
