Korean food-service industry searching for specialists


Large restaurant chains are on a personnel hunt, a leading online job portal said yesterday (March 30).

The postings on Incruit Corporation, www.incruit.com, show a demand growing for workers with specialised skills and foreign-language abilities.

Our Home, which operates a number of dining franchises, including Saboten and Mezzaluna, is encouraging experienced professionals with more than eight years of experience, and at least a university degree, to apply for a management position at its new business planning division.

Dongwon Home Food is looking for employees with more than three years' experience for its financial and accounting department.

SunAtFood is hiring staff both with experience and no experience. The operator of such brands as Tony Roma's and Spaghettia said non-experienced applicants must have graduated from high school, while experienced applicants must have at least a university degree. The company said it is particularly looking for those with degrees in the food-service industry, and those fluent in English and Japanese.

The headquarters of Mr Pizza said its supervisor positions are open to those with a college or university degree, while its buying team requires applicants with more than a university degree. The company said applicants able to speak English or Chinese will have an upper hand.

While in-store positions are open to those with only high-school education, Mr Pizza said applicants with background in food preparation or a relevant field would be given priority.

Domino's Pizza is now looking for a non-experienced person to manage its computer system. But the company said only those with a degree in computers or a relevant field can apply.
