How to make builders out of S'poreans

RAISING worker productivity may be the only way forward for Singapore.

Construction workers here are not paid well and Singaporeans are put off by the poor pay and harsh working conditions.

If construction jobs could be made more attractive to citizens through the increased mechanisation of work processes and higher wages, I am sure they would bite the bullet and take on the jobs.

There has also been an influx of foreign workers over the last five years.

As Singapore is still recovering from a recent recession, I hope that the Government could make protecting Singaporean workers a priority.

Though growth is important, growth at all costs is not worth it.
