Boost boss-worker rapport and up productivity

THE report on staying in tune with workers' needs raised a relevant issue which is worth consideration by employers.

Some bosses are more concerned about profit margins, productivity and the like, but left out an essential thing: fostering good rapport with their employees.

Their apathy often results in high staff turnover and low morale among workers which, in turn, affect productivity.

As people are a company's most important asset, it is imperative for the management to keep communication channels open for employees who want to discuss work-related issues or personal matters.

"Re-recruitment interviews" should be an integral part of sound management practices, especially in a fast-paced work environment.

Bosses of leading companies who attach greater importance to their workers' needs and aspirations will motivate them to take ownership of their responsibilities.

During these difficult times, this poses a challenge which is greater than ever.
