PARENTS usually have a high regard for professions such as doctors, lawyers, engineers and bankers and it is natural for them to give all their moral and financial support if their child shows an interest in any of these professions.
Most parents, especially those in the middle and lower income groups, would want their child to pursue a career that brings him money, status and prestige.
Sometimes, parents may impose on their child their desired profession of, say, a doctor, when the child wants
to be a musician.
He may oblige his parents' wish by earning a medical degree but he may turn out to be a mediocre doctor because his interest is not there.
However, if he is allowed to pursue his own passion, he may become a world-class musician. Not every child is born to be an Einstein.
It would be good for parents to guide their child and allow him to choose what he wants to become.
It is only when he is having fun in doing the thing he loves that he will excel in it.
