Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS) announced it had been served with a complaint involving allegations of price fixing on airfreight shipping services and related surcharges.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia Thursday, MAS said the complaint was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York by freight forwarder Benchmark Export Services and six other plaintiffs against the airline and 11 other defendants.
MAS said it was notified on February 16 of the complaint via its offices in the United States.
The management said at this juncture, no infringement had been established.
'The recently served complaint also did not make any mention of the quantum of damages sought from the national carrier,' it said.
MAS said it was now taking legal advice in relation to the complaint.
An e-mail from MAS said that the other plaintiffs were FTS International Express Inc, JSNP, Inc, Olarte Transport Service Inc, R.I.M. Logistics Ltd, S.A.T. Sea & Air Transport Inc, and Volvo Logistics AB.
The other defendants are China Airlines Ltd., EVA Airways Corp., Air India, Jean Charles Foucault, Bram Graber, Franciscus Johannes De Jong, Jan Lillieborg, Bruce McCaffrey, Jean Paul Moreau, Keith H. Packer, and Salvatore Sanfilippo.
