Recognise workers' sacrifice

COMPANIES which have performed well or are recovering strongly from the downturn should recognise their employees 'fairly and appropriately' for the support and sacrifices they have made to to help the firms tide over difficult times.

This is among the guidelines given in a tripartite advisory to guide employers who no longer face excess manpower to better prepare themselves as the economy emerges from the downturn.

The advisory, jointly released on Thursday by the tripartite partners - Ministry of Manpower, Singapore National Employers Federation and the National Trade Union Congress - called for continued vigilance to challenges which could undermine business recovery and growth, given the uncertain outlook next year.
