A SCHEME to help companies hire more skilled local workers has been extended to the security industry.

Under the Spur-Jobs scheme - first launched here in May this year - employers can receive up to $400,000 per company to defray the cost of hiring, training and re-designing jobs.

Manpower Minister Gan Kim Yong said on Friday that to date, 66 companies across different sectors had signed up to the scheme and have committed to recruit 900 local workers.
