Singapore team in Vietnam to promote bilateral business ties
Singapore's Vietnam Global Gateway (VGG) teamed up with Vietnam's Young Business Association (YBA) to organise a trade-promotion event for businesses of both countries to interact, find partners and gain access to markets, funds and technology.
The Singapore delegation visited Hanoi on April 16 and Ho Chi Minh City on April 18.
The event provided opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to find new markets, funds and technologies through Singapore while match-making Singapore firms with partners in Vietnam to tap into the latter's emerging market.
In conjunction with this, the Economic Development Board of Singapore (EDB), Singapore Exchange (SGX) and DMG & Partners showcased Singapore's business infrastructure to the Vietnamese.
EDB's Deputy Director Lim King Boon said: "We would like to see more Vietnamese enterprises setting up in Singapore. We hope that these events have given our Vietnamese counterparts a better idea of what Singapore can offer to them as an attractive location to do business in the region and beyond."
Dr Nguyen Tuan Quynh, Chief Representative of International Relations and the guest of honour in Ho Chi Minh City, agreed. He said: "This event is an excellent concept, and not a moment too early in its undertaking. Our collective objective to bring Singaporean and Vietnamese companies together to forge strong business partnerships has been achieved and we look forward to more of such events."
Mr Chua Ser Miang, Associate Director of DMG & Partners Securities, added: "From what we can see, Vietnamese companies are ready to expand their businesses beyond Vietnam, and Singapore is likely to be one of the key destinations. Likewise, there are many big players looking to Vietnam as the place to invest in, as her potential is comparable to that of China and India."
