Opinions required for wage discussion

WAGE freeze and wage cut recommendations were made in late 2008 by the National Wages Council (NWC), in order to help companies stay competitive and save jobs.

In May this year, the NWC will gather again to deliberate on wage and wage-related guidelines for 2009/2010, as well as other issues such as the state of the economy and outlook, labour market conditions and productivity. They will also look at measures required to address the current downturn.

Members of the public and organisations are invited to offer their views on wage guidelines by 30 April 2009. They can send their opinions to the Secretary of the NWC by post, fax or via email at mom_lrd@mom.gov.sg.
