Acting Minister for Manpower Mr Gan Kim Yong announced the rollout of four training programmes to professionalise health care personnel during the official launch of Health Management International Limited as the Continuing Education and Training (CET) Centre for health care and community and social services.

The four new programmes are:

1) Higher Certificate in Therapy Services for Therapy Assistant

2) Higher Certificate in Healthcare Support  (Nursing Care) for Patient Care Assistant

3) Higher Certificate in Healthcare Support  (Administrative Support) for Patient Service Assistant

4) Higher Certificate in Healthcare Support  (Operating Theatre Support) for Operating Theatre Assistant

HMI, appointed by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA), is the first CET centre for the Therapy Services and Healthcare Support sectors.

Programmes will be conducted  under the Singapore Workforce Skills Development System targeted to help mid-career switchers and job seekers to enter the sector. More than 2000 workers are expected to be trained comprising either new entrants or current employees seeking to upgrade their skills.

To enhance its relevance, HMI is exchanging Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to 12 local employers to provide trainees clinical attachments during the training, as well as to offer placements to trainees.
