Silver lining to job 'gloom'

THE overall jobless figure may rise in the second half of this year, but there is a silver lining in the gloomy numbers - if you know where to look.

There are industries that are continuing to hire, said Acting Manpower Minister Gan Kim Yong as he cited some.

The bulk of new jobs - 50,000 over the next two years - will be in services.
