Manpower Ministry to conduct labour force survey

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) will conduct a Labour Force Survey from May 21 to July 31 to collect data on employment, unemployment and other economic characteristics of the population to help in the planning and formulation of manpower-related policies.

Some 33,000 households have been selected for the survey, which will collect data, such as name, sex, age, education, marital status, employment status, occupation, industry and income of each household member.

Of this sample, 11,000 households will also participate in the Consumer Durables Survey by the ministry and the Singapore Department of Statistics. This survey aims to assess the standard of living of households.

Both surveys will be conducted through the Internet Household Survey System (iHSS), telephone or face-to-face interviews.

Households with Internet access are encouraged to participate in the survey using the iHSS. Otherwise, interviewers will conduct telephone interviews or visit the households to conduct face-to-face interviews.

All interviewers will carry an identification card issued by the ministry.

For more information, please visit the MOM website: www.mom.gov.sg/mrsd/survey or call MOM Contact Centre at Tel: 64385122.
