No hidden fee for using card abroad: UOB

We refer to the letter, 'Using credit card abroad? Beware of hidden fee' (Feb21), by Ms Lim Mui Cheng.

We wish to clarify that transactions that are charged overseas in a foreign currency will be converted into Singapore dollars based on the prevailing exchange rate determined by the respective card associations.

Card issuers levy an administrative fee for the convenience of using the card internationally.

We would like to assure Ms Lim that there were no recent changes to administrative fees or the way foreign currency transactions are processed.

Disclosure of foreign transaction charges can be found at the back of our credit card statement or via our website at uobgroup.com
