Following news that Citibank will have 15 drive-through ATMs at Esso petrol stations over the next 18 months, OCBC yesterday said it does plan to have ATMs at petrol kiosks.
Patrick Chew, OCBC Bank's head of delivery, said the bank does constantly review customers' needs, lifestyles and preferences in order to provide them with relevant services and choice to perform banking transactions at their own convenience.
While the bank has some cheque deposit boxes at 14 selected Shell and Caltex petrol stations and industrial parks, it has lagged its bigger local rivals, and now Citibank, in having ATMs at petrol stations.
DBS Bank has ATMs at all 67 Esso stations while United Overseas Bank has its ATMs at all 62 Shell stations.
'We also have plans to install OCBC ATMs at petrol kiosks. Details will be shared in due course,' said Mr Chew.
He noted that OCBC customers currently can access the shared network of more than 900 ATMs, as well as 98 cash deposit machines, 56 branches, Internet banking, mobile banking, and phone banking to pay their bills as well as perform other banking transactions.
Citibank has been aggressive in expanding its presence all over the island over the last five years.
From four branches and one off-site ATM in 2005, Citibank now has 21 branches, 150 proprietary ATMs, 85 ATMs under the shared network and more than 550 Citibank-AXS terminals, a payment platform.
It partnered SMRT in 2006 to push to the heartlands. Citibank said the SMRT channel registered 95 per cent new customers for banking transactions and 70 per cent new credit card customers.
