Mdm Ratna is a housewife with three children. With her husband bringing in only $1,200 a month, they have problems saving and their arrears have snowballed.

One day, she attended Talking Dollar & Sense, a programme organised by the Central Singapore Community Development Council (CDC) that shares effective money saving tips with their  residents.

'I am paying my bills more regularly now. Even though I still have some outstanding arrears, it is definitely much less than previously. I am confident that if I continue to give priority to savings and control my spending, I will be able to clear all our arrears soon', says Mdm Ratna

The Central Singapore CDC's Community Life Arts Programme (CLAP!) will host its very own financial literacy messages this January. Some of the highlights of the evening are games, including one which invites the audience to guess the cost of a dinner menu. It will be held on January 10 at the Ang Mo Kio Central Stage (next to Jubilee) at 6.45 pm.

Energy saving appliances would be given out as prizes to audience with the correct answers. Successful graduates from the Talking Dollar and Sense Programme will also be present to share their very own saving tips and success stories during the event.

Those interested can also sign up for a short 2 hour Money Management Workshop to be held over January and February 2009.
