CPF grant not for direct HDB sales
Tue, Dec 09, 2008
my paper

I REFER to the letter by Ms April Goh, who wrote about her husband's ineligibility to apply for a housing grant to buy a new flat, despite her husband being a first-timer.

The CPF Housing Grant is not applicable for the purchase of a flat directly from HDB, as such flats are already sold at a subsidised price.

The grant is only for first-timers who wish to buy a resale flat in the open market, or a flat under the Design, Build and Sell Scheme from the developer.

Where only one spouse has already enjoyed a housing grant, they can be considered for half of the housing grant if the other spouse is a first-timer applicant for a resale flat.

Ms Goh can contact our Resale Office on 6490- 3605 should she and her husband wish to buy a resale flat.

Deputy Director (Sales)
