Invalid CPF nomination investigated thoroughly
Thu, Sep 25, 2008
my paper

WE REFER to Mr Seah Kian Chong's letter, 'Have CPF nominations executed at CPF office' (my paper, Sept 8).

Mr Seah asked why his late brother's nomination was deemed invalid, and suggested the CPF Board mandate all CPF nominations be executed at its office, with its staff as witnesses.

We would like to assure Mr Seah that we had investigated his late brother's case thoroughly before invalidating the nomination.

His late brother's nomination was invalidated because it was not completed in accordance with CPF laws.

As CPF nomination is a personal and confidential matter, we cannot disclose the details of the nomination to other persons.

Any person who does not agree with the board's decision may seek the courts' decision on the matter.

Mr Seah may wish to note that members have the flexibility of either completing their nomination form at CPF Service Centres with their own witnesses, or they can have the board's customer-service officers act as witnesses, should it be inconvenient for members' witnesses to visit the CPF Service Centres.

We thank Mr Seah for his suggestion.

Mr Lo Tak Wah
Director (Retirement and Investment)
CPF Board
