  • CASE STUDY

A consumer signed up for a car-polishing package, comprising seven sessions, with a company for $639. The company could not meet the advance booking date of one week as stated on its appointment card. Subsequent bookings had to be made more than a month in advance. For the third session, it did not service her car after she arrived at the agreed-upon time and date.

E-mail messages were sent to the company for two consecutive months; however, it did not look into the matter as promised. The consumer then sought Case's assistance.

  • OUTCOME OF CASE

Eventually, the company agreed to refund $365 to the consumer.

  • CONSUMER TIPS

1. Study the terms and conditions before signing any contract and put verbal promises in writing.

2. Check for warranty in the event your car is damaged by the vendor.

3. Find out about alternative arrangements available in case of unsuccessful bookings.

4. Clarify if car-polishing materials are provided without extra charges.
