Some fall through HDB-loan cracks

THERE are conditions attached to applying for a Housing Board loan.

Should an individual be ineligible for the loan, he would have to take a housing loan from a bank or financial institution which is licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

There are cases where an individual or family has to relocate more than twice because of marriage, divorce or the death of a family member.

Such buyers would not be eligible for an HDB loan, and might not meet banks' requirements for a housing loan.

I hope the authorities could look into this matter and extend HDB housing loans to such buyers on a case-by-case basis.
