WE REFER to the letter 'Let elderly pay half of resale levy' (my paper, Jan 6) by Mr Marcus Phang.

Flat buyers who are buying a second subsidised HDB flat are required to pay the resale levy.

The resale levy serves to reduce the subsidy on the second subsidised flat so that there is fair allocation of limited housing subsidies.

We would like to request that Mr Phang contact our officer, Ms Catherine Tan, on 6490-3727 to provide more information.

This will help us to better advise him on the options available to him and his mother.
