On a high from designing own pad

Interior design consultant Woon Ng, 30, tells Debbie Yong why his five-room HDB flat in Holland Village is his pride and joy.

Mr Woon Ng, 30

  • Interior design consultant
  • 118 sq m five-room HDB flat in Holland Village
  • Lives with his wife, Cleo, 28, a teacher

I love my home because...

I designed it.

My decor theme is...

Modern contemporary.

I wanted to create levels of horizontal and vertical planes by layering different spaces into one. I also used varying volumes of form and geometry to achieve harmony throughout the different spaces in the flat. The dark tones were chosen to give the place a dramatic feel.

My favourite corner is...

The dining area because that's where I do my thinking.

I'm most proud of...

The usage of space. Every space is interlinked in terms of materials and form.

Will I sell it?

No. I like it.

MONEY MATTERS

Cost of home: $530,000

Cost of furnishings: $30,000

Cost of renovations: $80,000

Approximate value now: $600,000
