First-timer grant denied to hubby
Wed, Dec 03, 2008
my paper

I WAS a divorcee, but I remarried recently. I had purchased a three-room resale flat with my first husband, and we made use of the Housing Board grant for first-time flat purchases.

After I remarried, my husband and I applied for a new four-room flat. My husband has not bought a flat before. Nor does he own any property.

However, HDB told me that my husband does not qualify for the grant because I had already availed myself of one.

This is very unfair to my husband, as he has lost his eligibility because of me.

I hope that HDB will explain its rationale for not giving my husband the grant.
