For auction: six prime residential sites

THE Singapore Land Authority (SLA) is auctioning off six prime residential sites, of which two are meant for the most prestigious class of bungalows, on Nov 29.

SLA's land operations group's assistant chief executive, Mr Simon Ong, said the sale will help to meet the current market demand for high quality residential properties and allow wider participation by individuals to build their own dream homes.

Two of the six sites happen to be large plots of over 16,600 and 29,000 sq ft located within the good class bungalow (GCB) area of Eng Neo Avenue in District 11.

This is the first time the SLA is releasing sites for GCBs, which are coveted for their exclusivity. To qualify as a GCB, the homes must sit on at least 1,400 sq m, or 15,070 sq ft, of land and found in one of 39 gazetted GCB areas.

Of the other four sites, three are for two-storey houses in Moonbeam Walk near Holland Road and Mount Sinai, Jalan Insaf in Bishan and Bedok Close. The remaining Somme Road site in the Jalan Besar area is for a residential development with commercial space on the first floor.

These are what SLA calls infill sites, which are pockets of state land located in the midst of an established housing estate. They have either been left untouched by nearby developments or were formerly used for public purposes that have since been phased out, such as electrical sub-stations.

Interested parties have to register at 2pm for the 3 pm auction at the M Hotel.
