THIS is where you will want to live if you enjoy views of the Chao Phraya River and do not want to be on a street packed with eateries, pubs and people.
If traffic is bad, just cross the river on one of the many public ferries.
But conveniences such as malls are some distance away. Instead, small shops abound.
The River, Raimon Land's latest project to be built across the water from Shangri-La Hotel, has reportedly seen favourable demand despite its distance from the city.
In the Charoennakorn area, new condominiums such as the 40-storey Villa Sathorn by TCC Land and Singapore's CapitaLand are sprouting around the new Krungthonburi skytrain station, which is set to open early next year.
In the Rama III Road area, The Pano offers riverside living away from the chaos of the city but near the central business district. There is no skytrain station here, however.
The Pano, which has 397 units and is being developed by Singapore's Frasers Property and Krungthep Land, has attracted mostly Thai buyers.
It is next to older condos such as SV City.
As is the case in Singapore, buyers in Bangkok prefer new developments, so older developments typically cannot keep pace with new ones price-wise, experts say.
