Digital Life, The Straits Times

ORIGINALLY, the term was used only to describe the small applications nestled in websites, such as the weather box or news feed service.

Now, it is also used for similar small applications that can be downloaded to desktops and mobile phones, and which pull some information from the Internet.

These applications are typically fun programs that provide additional interaction.

Some examples of widgets are the instant messaging boxes nestled in blogs, or weather boxes that can be downloaded onto desktops.
