AsiaOne offers news and help on Web 2.0 portal

ANYONE needing a guide to help navigate the sometimes baffling Web 2.0 world can now bookmark a new one-stop site providing the latest news and developments.

Web 2.0 refers to new interactive digital media such as video-aring site YouTube, Second Life-style virtual worlds and social networking sites like Facebook.

The new help website, a collaborative effort between media group Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) and technology giant IBM, will throw light on how the technology works and what benefits it provides.

It will capitalise on the content generated by SPH itself to offer the latest news, how-to guides and other resources on Web 2.0.

The website will also include videos and audio presentations that guide the user on increasingly popular social computing technologies.

Other features include an online forum where users can interact.

In addition, breakfast meetings with business leaders, who will share their thoughts and experiences on Web 2.0 technologies and issues, will be organised.

IBM Singapore's marketing manager, Mr Chris Tan, said social computing technologies 'are poised to change the way businesses are conducted, just like the way the Internet revolutionised businesses a decade ago'.

He added that the partnership with SPH offers 'an opportunity for individuals and companies to understand and leverage on the potential of social computing for their businesses'.

The website can be accessed at http://www.asiaone.com/innovation.
